Adding New Hardware

Want to add flashing lights to your bot? Sensors? Our bot has an Arduino controlling it, so pretty much anything you can hook up your Arduino, you can add to your bot. And since we're already controlling our Arduino wirelessly (using XBees), whatever you add to your Arduino will be controlled wirelessly, automatically! We'll also show you how to add an additional joystick for controlling your bot. This page has some hardware and software ideas that will get you started.

One of the easiest ways to add different hardware to your bot is to buy a Grove Base Shield. They are relatively inexpensive, and you can attach hundreds of different Grove devices to them quickly and securely. For our projects, we'll be using a Base Shield and Grove devices, because they are so easy to use.
